Besides "Mixi", what other social networking sites are popular in Japan right now?
Popular SNS sites in Japan:
Mixi: http://mixi.jp
Yahoo! JAPAN Days: http://days.yahoo.co.jp
GREE: http://gree.jp
Otaba: http://otaba.jp
Mixi is by far the most popular, but Yahoo! JAPAN's Days has a nice set of features and should catch up fast. Gree has some interesting features, but not everything seems to work and the interface is slightly confusing. Otaba...sorry, it doesn't look like an SNS that I am very interested in getting into. ;-)
Hope this helps.
By the way...there are more out there, but they are not very popular.
Reply:Yahoo Japan has started it recently

but mixi is still dominating the SNS in Japan
its communities are very scarce

What is the best social networking site on the net?
Myspace is certainly the largest (80M+ users), but it depends on your goals. If you're looking for a job, Linkedin has a much better population of users. If you'd like to start a blog, Vox or LiveJournal have much better blogging capabilities. But if you're looking for raw numbers of people, Myspace is your best bet.
What is the best social networking site on the net?
definitely myspace.

How to promote a social-networking website(www.reqqi.com) on the web?
Small Business Marketing Strategy: Target the up-and-coming search engines
While Google still rules the roost when it comes to Internet search engines, and Yahoo is firmly entrenched in second spot, a number of new start-ups are hoping to give them a run for their money. And a good small business marketing strategy would be to check them out and see how you can make them work for your site!
Some of the new up-and-comers include:
Powerset (www.powerset.com): A "natural language" search engine
Hakia (www.hakia.com): A "meaning-based" search engine
Wikia(www.wikia.com): A "community-based" search engine
ChaCha(www.chacha.com): A "social networking-based" search engine
Snap (www.snap.com): A search engine that offers visual previews
It's a smart small business marketing strategy to continue optimizing for the Google, Yahoo, and MSN search engines as they are by far and away the most popular -- but niche search engines could provide new opportunities to reach your market. Be sure to check them out!
How to promote a social-networking website(www.reqqi.com) on the web?
Hi,
In my opinion social-networking site should be promoted by word of mouth so any process of SEO is pointless and if you will keep in mind that phrases like social-bookmarking are extremely competitive I would rather go with services like digg, which are created by real people that see quality of your website.
You can also try making some short videos promoting your site and uploading them to sites like youtube. Choose what you want but don't go with SEO[search engine optimization] as it will take you at least a year of hard work if not more to show up on first page.

Reply:Hi,
First of all, you should not rely on exchanging links alone. In web marketing, you should be able to try on one or more strategies to gain traffic you want for your site. I suggest that you should try submitting your url to as many sites as possible. Also, try to join forums, which have similar interests as your site offers. This will also give you the exposure you wanted. Try to write articles about your site (products/services) and submit them to different sites that cater to article submission. The people who get to read them will become interested with your site. Gaining traffic takes time. And you have to wait for at least six months to see the actual results.

How have career-oriented social networking sites furthered your career or improved your life?
Many people participate on these websites because they hope/believe that it will further their career or improve their lives.
This question is intended to determine how successful these websites are in living up to that expectation.
How have career-oriented social networking sites furthered your career or improved your life?
when people are unsure about their careers I often suggest they take career aptitude tests and many of them have thanked me for the tip, so I take this as a positive sign.

Is all advertising on social networking sites contextual?
Do the ads vary depending on what you have written on your profile?
Is all advertising on social networking sites contextual?
No, not all ads used in social networking sites are contextual
Facebook for example allows demographic targeting of ads where the advertiser sets the audience they want to reach in terms of age, gender, location, interests. That is not contextual and will not depend on what you write, but who you say you are

Why are gay men social networking pages so ostentatious?
I mean, str8 men don`t fill their pages with naked women, str8 women don`t fill their pages with naked men. Are gay men only sexual images? Have they nothing else to show?
P.S. I don`t have anything agains gay men, just that I don`t understand this.
If you find a page of a ~normal~ so to say gay man page, send me a link. I want to see the ~miracle~.
Or just write a nice answer.
Thank you!
Why are gay men social networking pages so ostentatious?
Im gay, 34, PA, male. I know what you mean though. I don't know why the profiles have to have PNP, bottom, right off the bat. Mine doesn't. It is actually annoying at times. So many wonderful men have made themselves out to be cool when they actually are coming off as hogs. Good question

Reply:"st8 men don't fill their pages with naked women"

That is so bs.
Reply:Check out my MySpace page. There is a link to it from my profile. I think nudity ruins everything.
Also, on my Yahoo! 360 page, there are lots of models on in my background, but no nudes.
I know that you aren't technically allowed to post nude stuff on MySpace or Yahoo! 360, but even if you were, I wouldn't do it.
Oh and to ĦΣŊ®¥ ЈǾ, ostentatious means to attract attention, or vulgar.
Reply:If you mean flamboyantly nude, then I can see your problem. Straight men do it all the time. Everyone does. Women, too.
Well, actually, ostentatious is usually meant to be showy or loud in a "cool" way. But it can also be used to show that one is vulgar or tawdry. You're right, I was just thinking of only the more common usage.

What are some good social networking sites?
I find Bebo is quite good because it's pretty user-friendly, and MySpace can be customised a bit more if you know HTML (or even just a good page-editing site).
Either way its always easier to get started if you know a network where some of your friends are already, hook up with them, and start networking from there.
Peace.

I personal am addicted with Yuwie. It's still on the small side (about 500,000) so it's way more personal than MySpace. The users are all really awesome. What do you guys think?

Living Life Through A Social Networking Website?
Do you live your life entirely through Facebook or MySpace? Because at times, whenever I log on to Facebook or MySpace Some people seem to put out their drama, party, or live their life through the internet than in REAL life.
Seems people these days are out of touch with reality--like it's not their best friend. Isn't that weird for people to be living through the internet?
Living Life Through A Social Networking Website?
Yes, it is kind of weird. However, I'm sure many people thought (and still think) that it is weird for anyone to spend any amount of time watching television.
Reply:No, maybe for them it is fun. Better than going to bars and staying out all night and getting in real trouble.
with social networking you can't get anyone pregnant, or get a disease.
Reply:Hey!!!! I am a little insulted. oh well I will blog about this later.
I live through Yahoo Answers!!
well, maybe it is a little pathetic..... I have a MySpace, Facebook, blogger.com account.
However, i am debating, mostly on my blog, if I should open a youtube account.
Having an online life you do not have change out of pajamas, leave your house, no effort needed.
Help, I need a REAL life..... nah i am fine.....

Are there any safe social networking sites?
the word "social" automatically makes it unsafe as you meet new people, becuase thats the purpose of a social website
and its unsafe becuase you dont know what those people actually want to do.
Are there any safe social networking sites?
its not the network its how u handle yourself on it.
myspace is safe if your not an idiot and post your information all over the place.
facebook is boring and generic, sure its "safer" but still if your not safe on it then its not safe.
theres also bebo, i dont go much on it, uhhhhh midzid or sumtin like that.
just dont post your full name, school, numbers, and you can always set your profiles to private and what not. if someone is suspicious dont hesitate to block them.
just dont make yourself vulnerable and anything y ou will choose will be safe
Reply:Depends on what you are refer to as safe.
Facebook is fairly safe, but it is still easy to get your personal information off of it.
Reply:none are safe , any1 can pose as a 14 year old guy/girl and start talking to you ,
it's best just to talk to people who you know and are close friends with
oh and never EVER meet up woth some1 you meet online
but i'm sure you already know this
and its unsafe becuase you dont know what those people actually want to do.

Have any of the social networking sites caused anyone any problems?
nope buts its got me sex
Have any of the social networking sites caused anyone any problems?
Not really because I only use common sense when using them. For example, do not enter your password on pages that are not facebook or myspace because those are usually scams. I enjoy writing, so I have been using the website
www.hubpages.com
It is a cool site and the people there are more about writing and being kind ot each other.
Good fake eyelashes

If you're over 40 or a baby boomer, Seniorocity is the best social network or online community.
Reply:What's best really depends on what you want out of your social networking experience. Vois.com has recently been voted best large social network. Bebo.com is also highly regarded.
I think alot of people will start using smaller, more niche social networks tailored to particular interests, locations or careers. This is because niche social networks enable users to meet and connect with like-minded individuals and thus receive genuine friendship and support.

Does anyone else think social networking thru the net is for sad losers?
I am not entirely sure of what you mean but if.... if you are referring to using the computer as a means to HOOK UP with someone, yes, it is sad.Yes, I have seen on television of success stories but REALLY.. if one looked behind the scenes, are they really success stories. I am adamantly against any type of "hooking up" using the Internet system. I am not a psychologist but feel that people who do that are insecure
Does anyone else think social networking thru the net is for sad losers?
No doubt there are people who think it is for losers. Others will think that it is another alternative to broaden your social / professional network. The digitally challenged will think it is a communist plot, and the holy rollers will think the devil is behind it. Yet others will no have the vaguest idea what is going on.
And then there are those who will think that anyone that asks such a question must be a jerk, really insecure, or bored, or (pick your derogatory adjective of choice).

For those with a social networking profile . . . Aren't you worried about your privacy?
I don't have a MySpace or Facebook profile. Nor would I want one. I can't stand the thought of people I don't know knowing so much about me.
Some potential employers have been known to use those profiles in assessing an applicant's employability with their company.
Aren't you concerned about your privacy? About revealing so much of yourself to complete strangers? Why do you do it?
For those with a social networking profile . . . Aren't you worried about your privacy?
Facebook allows you to set privacy settings so only people you allow (friends, family) can view your profile and find you in search results.
You can even set your profile to be limited if you want it to be public, so no worries about being stalked.

MySpace versus all other social networking sites? Am beginning my quest into an Online presence ...?
Myspace is good for all ages, particularly ages 16-30 or so. And it has the biggest networking of all compared to the other sites (Myspace has well over 190 million users), so you're more likely to find the most people on there. It's one of the biggest sites on the internet and is targeted entirely around social networking. It's a GREAT place for people (especially musicians and small companies) to get their name out.
You're making it for the hair place you work at? Or only to advertise yourself? Either way, Myspace is probably your best bet for getting your name (or your business's name) out there. However, some other sites or more popular depending where you are; like everyonesspace.com, profilejunky.com, chillaxen.com, msn.com, facebook.com, tagworld.com, and more. Different sites catch on in different parts of the country. Ask around the neighborhood and see what's most popular in your area. But I'd go with Myspace, even if something else is popular too, it wouldn't hurt to take the time to make both then.
Just make sure you have an interesting background, good explanations of what you (or your business) does. You can even have yourself and everyone you work with make personal Myspace profiles about what exactly they do and put them in the "friends" section so that viewers can look at who works there and get a feel for the place. Don't forget the company address, phone number, fax number if you have one, maybe directions to the business (link it Mapquest or something), and anything else they might need to know, like they have to make a reservation 48 hours in advance. (And make sure you re-read everything! One misspelling might make people turn away... If you advertise as a "Hiar" colorist by accident, it might make people wonder that if you aren't even careful enough with your spelling on a simple website, how careful are you going to be with their hair...)
Only bad thing about Myspace is that you need to use HTML to design it, which most people don't know that much about. But rest easy! You can find just about EVERYTHING you need ALREADY in it's code form online, so all you have to do is copy and paste it! This is one of the best sites for everything you need: http://www.freecodesource.com/index.php?...
Here's some of the basics to get you started in case you want to start setting up your profile: ("blah blah"=what you want to type)
%26lt;b%26gt;blah blah%26lt;/b%26gt; (Bold)
%26lt;i%26gt;blah blah%26lt;/i%26gt; (Italics)
%26lt;u%26gt;blah blah%26lt;/u%26gt; (Underline)
%26lt;font color=red%26gt;blah blah%26lt;/font%26gt; (Change font color to red, you can replace "red" with whatever color you want... blue, green, yellow, etc)
Or you can go here http://www.webmonkey.com/reference/color... and pick a letter-number code representing a color... For example:
%26lt;font color=#00FFCC%26gt;blah blah%26lt;/font%26gt; (will give you a turquoise-green color font)
%26lt;br%26gt;%26lt;br%26gt; (To put a break between lines or paragraphs -like I've been doing between my paragraphs in this response)
Links are formatted like this:
%26lt;a href="website link"%26gt;What you want the link to say%26lt;/a%26gt;
Like this: %26lt;a href="www.yahoo.com"%26gt;Yahoo%26lt;/a%26gt; will give you a link to Yahoo's homepage when they click "Yahoo".
Good luck!! If you need any help or ideas or just have some questions, feel free to email me! I am addicted to Myspace and am pretty "well versed" in designing profiles, finding good graphics too use, making/finding HTML codes, and stuff like that.
Reply:myspace probably would be good, but you may also want to see about facebook

Health stuff didn't help. Desperately trying to hang on to hair. I think whatever you do, you should include/keep some aspect question answer help. Obviously means a lot to you, and much of your life/ego is tied to it. Just as with my health probs, it does help more than you think to keep going!

Reply:My space is great for finding old friends and family that you have lost touch with plus you can now put TONS of pics (pictures) in there and its fun once you understand how to use the site. You will need to learn what RSS codes are but not how to make them. Its also good for seeing what is up with TV shows and music. Other then that I would just build your own site and you can make your own area for blogs and ask and answer questions and make sure that you have it in the web search for what you want it for and for all over the country you live in as well as others. I know allot of people who look into the things you do for work so make your own place to talk about what you do. You can use myspace.com for other things then for your job. That is just what I think you should do. But don't get me wrong Myspace is a great site to go to and see what people look like now from your past. I get a kick out of it and I just found someone I have been looking for from my past that has been missing from my life for over 7 years now. it was important I find him cause he is my sons father. So first us the site for personal use not business.

What is the best social networking site in your opinion?
I use Facebook and (to a lesser extent) Myspace. I heard that there were sites that pay you for using them though. Is this true or just some scammy way to get people to sign on?
What is the best social networking site in your opinion?
The "best" in terms of how likely you are to find friends on the website, I think, is Facebook. Myspace is losing members by the day and it's becoming more of a haven for music artists that are trying to post their music online. If you want a broader network, I'd say use Facebook.
Also, no site will pay you to sign on. It's a well-known scam, just like legal cannabis.
Reply:I used to use FaceBook, however now I'm starting to get out in the real world and socialize.
There's nothing like the outdoors away from the computer !

My opinion, put some random words into a hat, pull out 2 or 3 and put them together to make a new one in any order or way you like.
My idead.
Wishbone: centered around wants dreams and ideas ...
Social websites need competitions to get people interacting - thats the hard part.
Marketing is also very important - you need to hit hard and fast with a great platform. Facebook caught on like wild fire - log in look and think why?

How to perform the Social Networking Analysis?
It depends on what you want to analyse. You need to define a set of analysis parameters first and then devise a way to collect the required information. Then you need to analyse that information in a way that is meaningful to your initial question/hypothesis.
What's the best social networking site?
hey..guys,
i have tried orkut, hi5 and facebook....but i would like to find friends who are honest....true to themselves....very friendly...in other sites
What's the best social networking site?
Believe it or not I have found some really nice honest people on myspace, but you have to be careful because there are a lot of weirdos out there!
Reply:There is a website like myspace called cherrytap. It's even better than myspace because as you rate people, make friends and post messages you earn points and Cherry Bucks that you can buy presents for your friends with. It's really cool. Hit up the link below and check it out.
Reply:*gasp* there are other sites out there??!
ok well my friends like orkut, mainly because you can find old friends thru communities ... but personally, i prefer msn messenger, not these social networking websites! i'd rather socialise at a club or on campus than on the internet!

What is the best social networking site, Yahoo! 360 or Windows Live Spaces?
I have been playing around with both of them, and I like them both better than the horribly designed MySpace. Please chime in with any other sites you recommend as well.
What is the best social networking site, Yahoo! 360 or Windows Live Spaces?
I would go with Yahoo 360. But I am on a Mac so that's my reasoning. Windows Live Messanger does work on Macs, but it's not where near as good as it is on Windows.

Do you think that social networking online is breaking down?
As a society we are going through the growing pains of how to do it right. We know that just because we can get people all together we can't make them all get along.
In some ways social networking on the computer has hurt us, in others it helps.
I think it's just trade offs, I can talk to more people with less effort, expanding my horizons and meet people I would have never met otherwise. As a consequence I don't actually meet people face to face, I don't know their mannerisms, also it's easier to be rude and indifferent to people that are only just pictures or words on a screen.
Reply:No, I do not believe that is true.
Reply:No. It expands the lives of both those who meet many people daily and those who do not.

Do you think social networking on the net is a bit creepy?
It depends on exactly what you mean by social networking. I use messenger software, and have been known to contact and meet people through chat. Generally it was pretty good for me, I never had any real problems, though I did find that many people there are appearing to be nice online, but when you meet them they just try to make you spend money - so it was a waste of their time.
For sites like 'hi5' and 'facebook' I have no interest. I think generally they're doing business, and you pay for your service one way or the other. They don't offer much of any interest to me, and I prefer not to post myself publicly like that. I think it's rather sad that people get wrapped up in a virtual world. If you know the people personally, then there's not much need.
There are, however, a lot of creepy people out there, and I'm glad to say that I have a very good nose for them. But I can say for a fact that many people who think they can judge are hopeless. I heard of a lot of nightmares, but that's more down to the stupidity of the people using networking. It's very easy for transvestites, for example, to pose as a woman, and lure a man. It's also easy for men to pose as younger and nicer people. Once a woman who looked rather like a 28 year old ex model went to meet me, and an unrecogniseable short fat greasy woman turned up! I was shocked, and laughed out loud. I met her in the front door of a Mall, so it was very easy to escape. The opposite happened many more times, people were more friendly in the flesh than they were online.
I think facebook is a huge waste of time, and highly unproductive. I prefer to go out and meet friends in real life, or go out to watch a movie (it's affordable where I live, not a luxury). It's bigger, I think, in the US than anywhere else in the world (around a third of the population - 125 million out of population 300 million) - so really it is inevitable. Many other users are asian women dreaming of getting money from some guy in the US. I know of many girls who get monthly incomes of maybe 3000 dollars or more from some guy who thinks they need it, who had sex with them for a 2 month holiday and think it's love... Sure, women love money :)) funny.
I think they offer a better alternative to the 'dating' sites, and better alternatives for people who don't have social opportunities than any other outlet. I remember people used to place ads in newspapers - now that was a lot worse. At least online, you have the opportunity to connect with messenger and webcam and microphone and chat regularly for a while, which is by far a more effective way to get to know someone. (Non-verbal language is very important, 90% of communication... so webcam and voice tones are important).
I did experience with Yahoo chat the heyday, which lasted for a year or two, and it's downfall. I think that this is built into networking. Eventually, the good people give up on it, and the bad people get to be the vast majority.
That's why I don't worry about Facebook taking over the net. As more users flock to it, the chances that the people who make you think it's time to quit will find you increases. Once that happens, poof, away you go -- and Facebook will join SixDegrees, Friendster and their pals on the scrapheap.
Do you think social networking on the net is a bit creepy?

Reply:These social networking sites freak me out a bit. Only a couple of weeks ago, there were a couple of schoolgirls on This Morning telling of how they were duped by some 55 year old guy into thinking he was their age, and turned up on their school trip to a museum to make contact with them. God only knows what would have happened if they didn't realise who he was and told a teacher.
I think you have to be very careful about who you allow to view your profile, etc. and it is very difficult to tell who is genuine and who is not. Parents especially should be aware of any sites of this kind which their children go to.
Reply:Yeah, creepy and dangerous. I don't believe in all these facebook, bebo type stuff, as it can waste way too much time and is highly unproductive. If kids or indeed anyone wants friends there are actual people out there rather than just words on a screen! This is my limit to anything other than work or the odd email to friends/family, and I like this 'cos I can get on my soapbox for 10 mins LOL. In this day and age, I think there is too much risk being on-line if you're going to start supposed friendships.

Are there any social networking sites for doctors? Places where MDs go to share clinical data and insights?
Those sites are well protected from us, unless it is practical information they want to share.

Do you think social networking websites can influence the acadamic performence of students?
it is part of an accadamic research ,so answers are so important
you can add your own articles regarding this topic
Do you think social networking websites can influence the acadamic performence of students?
Whenever i go on the computer to do my coursework i always get sucked into going on myspace and never end up doing work. It basically ends up just the same as having a bunch of friends round when your trying to work, you just get distracted.
Reply:yes and make them addicted like to myspace. this leads to students spending more time on these sites than doing homework

Is there a social networking site that will allow me to use my own URL?
MySpace, Tagworld, Multiply, CollectiveX, Yahoo 360 etc. all offer a robust suite of tools (blog, photo posting, video, chat, forums, tags, etc.) but as they host these things, they require you to use their URL. Is there a way to create a site using these tools, but use my own URL? Could I simply redirect viewers? Or is there a service that would allow me to do that?
Is there a social networking site that will allow me to use my own URL?
There is an open distributed standard for relationship information called "Friend of a Friend" (FOAF):
http://www.foaf-project.org/
But the project has had nowhere near the success that any of these other sites have. You can add a FOAF file to your own site, but it makes most sense if you're linking to people who also use FOAF.
As an alternative, you can also simply redirect or use frames to have your URL direct attention to these sites (although you'll probably have to choose).

Will the im social networking of the future change forever the way people will interact with each other?
IM is an extension of the internet and email. It has changed human communications to some extent, but as for it being all that dramatic - that may be a little overdone.
It is faster, and it is fun sometimes too. But, it is just another way to say howdy.
Will the im social networking of the future change forever the way people will interact with each other?
somehow some of us get glued to the internet for networking and interaction tt we lose the human touch or rather the human touch is enhanced depending on how u look at the situ. eg YA enhances comms. so imsn may succeeed but its competing with other similar engines. theres just too many of it now. the tested ones seem to be the ones tht's lasting. so its still anybodys guess!! lets seeee

What kind of social networking / community discussion site should I start?
I have a large university's bandwidth (1000 megabytes per second), I'm willing to buy an external hard drive or two if necessary (several hundred gigabytes of storage), I am creative and have a lot of experience in web design and graphics, and I have worked with PHP/MySQL. I also have friends who can help me code something, and I know people who could help me build a community and user base.
What can I make that college students would use? A Yahoo! Answers type site? Something similar to Rate My Professors? Facebook/Myspace? Something like Google Docs/Spreadsheets, except with some kind of commenting/discussion system?
Let me know if you guys have any ideas. Thanks!
What kind of social networking / community discussion site should I start?
Sorry to say it, but if you don't have a grand (new) idea, then it's probably been done already.
But... Having worked on similar projects for Uni, I would suggest asking your prospective users. Ask them what they want or need and can't find anywhere else. This will almost guarantee an audience because they are the ones that know!

"KiziT is a rapidly growing community full of people looking for books and old movies, answers to parenting questions, and pretty much anything else they need"
KiziT is a service where friends help friends do everything from finding a job to sharing their favorite restaurant.

and what's ur question
i like my site... it's small, and all homemade, but thats the best thing about it!
im the only programmer, therefore, it's common for people to think it's bad, since work on it is needed.
but it's free and all

Do you take social networking sites too seriously?
I have some family and close friends on one, and they all think that because i re-added a guy who broke up with me months ago that i'm still not over him...but i don't have the heart to delete him again, and find myself now agreeing with the reasons he broke up with me (anger issues, problems communicating). i know it sounds stupid but just because i added him again i feel an enormous pressure to be friends but its something thats going to take much more time cuz he fuked me up. now he wants to maybe catch up over the holiday but i ain't calling. any suggestions?
Do you take social networking sites too seriously?
I HATE those sites. I have a facebook myself but i barely use it. It is basically a competition between your friends to see who has more of a life and more friends. it is just retarded
Reply:I don't take social networking sites seriously. But if you take social networking sites seriously, then your re-adding this guy in your friends list is serious. Had you taken these sites casually, why did you bother re-adding him in the first place?

Are thererisks with Social Networking?Could there be risks with answers too?
for the young and impressionable i think there are some risks. parents should make sure there kids are aware that people may not always be who/what they say they are.
it does surprise me sometimes how willing some people are to give out personal information to relative strangers who they 'think' they know over the internet.
i think the risk is a lot smaller on answers given its format and lesser attraction to the younger teenager.

What changes in social networking will come in the next decade?
In services, features, applications, so on?
What changes in social networking will come in the next decade?
See one of the first things that Facebook needs to do is create an appliance to enter the corporate workspace. This would be similar to what Google did earlier. See a private Facebook network setup between corporations to run projects and develop teams.
One large hurdle that social networks will need to address is data protection and privacy. Facebook already has had an issue with that and the response from the public was fast and left nothing to the imagination.
The schools will eventually embrace the networking and see how to use it so the kids will be able to learn from it and connect the kids that need help in math or whatever subject to engage mentoring.
Cyber bullying is another evil of the social networking space that will need to be addressed. Unfortunately, to do so will result in some loss of privacy.
My biggest concern is the vast amount of data that people are putting up is just inviting more identity theft and sex offenders.
Better protection of the pictures. Maybe some image encryption so only those with the proper certs can view your site. Just one more level of protection.
Going to be interesting that is for sure

We run a social networking site, how can we avoid having our members' messages finish in hotmails junk folder?
All your members when they recieve your email must open it under junk mail folder and click at Not Junk Mail tab on top of that email and add your email address to their safe list and from next time all your emails would go to Inbox.
We run a social networking site, how can we avoid having our members' messages finish in hotmails junk folder?
the members have to put the address into their safe list on their hotmail address settings.
Reply:Are you talking about messages u send or they send? because if its messages they send then u have to add all their emails into your address book but if it s ones you send they have to add you into their address book.

Its a great social networking website
I have a social networking software as well as a domain name and hosting.i need help making my front end to?
i dont have any experience in php or computers i wanted the myspace look and feel.
i want my site set up were it runs by itself no other branding but my own.
i want to provide music video, film, music, photos and all media uploading and downloading sharing etc
i need to have a dedicated movie player as well as mps player
i would like to have a script were i would have the license to allow people to download thousands of music videos and all sorts of media.
if i own the script and license it keeps people coming back unless it can be a way of letting my community go to other sites and of course have them be able to hit home and there right back to the community
now when this is done in my program members go off to another sight but theres no path to get back via a 1 button press.
they end up having to press the go back button 20 times and by the 3rd click i lost them.
im not rich i just have a great idea can i get some help please

Try searching this site for the software to do what you want.
http://php.resourceindex.com/
or
http://www.hotscripts.com/
Youll need to be able to ftp the packets into place and likely need hosting that supports both PHP and MYSQL.
Most are free and fully functioning stand alone PHP scripts if you want to link them you might need to read up some at
http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp
Best of luck.
Reply:well you can't control what happens in someone's browser. If they have your site set as "home" they can click the home button. Otherwise you will either have to have them open the "new site" in a frame or in a new window.
Also you might want to consider hiring someone to do your front end if you are serious about this. Also, how are you going to make a profit if you don't have any other branding?

Wheres a good social networking site thats not a trollhatten, with image storage and wikis?
i was hanging out at tribe.net and it was almost what i was looking for, but turned out a bust cuz tribe is a trollhatten experiment. Plus they are unwilling to do any work to make the place better, don't have wikis, and images can't be displayed in the text area. I want to make several forums, but i need
something better than yahoo or msn groups or myspace.

Hi,
Trolls are there whereever you go. The best you can do is ignore them! orkut, myspace and facebook all are popular, but I use mylot networking site. You actually get paid for participating in discussions, posting questions and uploading images! above all It's free to sign up!

How does online social networking enhance a person's effective writing skills?
Online social networking often hurts writing skills. I say this because people often shorten their words to say time and this isn't a good habit.
How does online social networking enhance a person's effective writing skills?
From everything I have seen, it only harms effective writing skills and communication skills in general. Social networking encourages people to use incorrect spelling and no grammar in order to make messages short. These are both detrimental to effective writing skills. Texting is also detrimental to effective communication skills since it divorces the parties involved from the most effective clues to effective communicaton, ie; body language, intonation and facial clues.

Are gay online social networking sites replacing gay bars?
Feels like more and more people prefer meeting others on the web compared to say 10 years ago... What do you think?
Are gay online social networking sites replacing gay bars?
You can't dance on a web site.
Reply:Where the social networking sites are working is with people that are in rural areas. They are "connected" to the gay lifestyle, and can meet "local" people they might not otherwise find.
Working in a STD clinic I find that more of the clients are meeting their partners on line, and sad to say it has increased the STD/HIV rates a lot.
But people need to be in social settings and the bars will never be replaced for that reason. In fact one of our bars has a Sunday afternoon for the "one line" people to meet and get to socialize in the real work, not cyber space, and it has been very successful.
Reply:I don't think so. The bars are just as packed as they were 10 or even 20 years ago.
People still need the real world.
Reply:There will always be bars! It is where real people really meet. Online meetings only give you the illusion of being someone else. How many of us have embellished who we are or what we really do online, only to be busted later, a large majority. When it comes down to it where do most of us set up meetings for online contacts? at the clubs mostly. The Internet is great for chatting and what not, but clubs/bars will be around for a long time. They are a "constant," like church, groceries stores, they are a mainstay of community gatherings.
Reply:No i don't think so...Networking sites are used primarily to meet new guys and to date...gay bars are to go out and have a good time
Reply:i hate english
Reply:For dating, I was more for online... For having fun, drinking, and dancing the bar... But I never picked anyone up from the bar. I always knew of the 3 week relationships from the bars... So I just went there to have fun, not really meet anyone...
Reply:I don't think gay online networking sites are REPLACING bars. I just think it's another venue to meet people, socialize, and (for some people) hook up.
I do think, however, that there ARE those who don't enjoy going to bars, so online networking is probably a welcomed replacement for them.
Bars will always be popular, because it's a place to see, be seen, drink, dance, meet friends, and have fun.

Whats the best social networking site and why? Bebo Facebook or myspace,?
I want to answer this question from performance aspect. MySpace, Bebo and Facebook are developed using Web 2.0 technology. However, recent research towards 104 social networking sites has shown that Facebook was the worst performer; recording a slow load time and more errors than any other monitored site. The research has shown that Web 2.0 sites of social networking services often are slow to open or fail to load properly.
You can find more information from this source link.
Thank you
Reply:I like Facebook. A lot of people have one, kids from 13 - adults of 40. My friends mom has one and my teachers have them so theres no age limit. It has some pretty cool applications for games, and quizzes. You can post pictures, videos, stuff about you, and people can sen you messages. You can join a network of people from high school, college or work. My sister uses it to keep in contact with all her friends that go to other colleges.
Reply:i think bebo cause its really simple to use.
i love myspace but sometimes its complicated.
Reply:Facebook!!!!
Reply:neither....
social networking is not my thing and is potentially dangerous.
Your site doesn't have anything on it btw...just cgi-bin with no access.
Reply:i perfer myspace. I've had one for almost 5 years. i have facebook but i don't really understand it.
Reply:I prefer Yuniti ( http://yuniti.com ). Here's why:
* You can make your profile look really sweet
* You can change the layout of your page
* You can play games
* You can show/hide just about any part of your profile
* You can create your own groups with a chatroom, forum, and more!
* You can IM your friends right on the site, no need to download anything!
* It's really easy to setup everything and to change privacy settings
* You can find people really easily and in more ways than any other site out there
It's better than http://myspace.com and http://facebook.com in pretty much every way.
