The art of Social networking or just plain rude?

I'm having casual conversation in a semi public area (no eye contact with others unless they get out of their cubicals) with different levels of management and sales reps. Everytime one co-worker or another will not only invite themselves into the conversation but shut me down to the point I am no longer in it.

Are these people despartly trying to network or are they just plain rude?

(BTW I was holding my own conversationaly so it's not a rescue mission)

The art of Social networking or just plain rude?
They simply lack proper social skills. Don't worry, they only make up about 80% of the population!

So take comfort in the fact that atleast you started an interesting topic of discussion with your coworkers.
Reply:I'm thinking there is a possibility that if it is happening EVERY TIME that the person being rescued is not you, but the person you are chatting with! If the conversations are business related and private, take them out of the semi public areas and into an office... if it's idle chit chat, take it to the break room. If you're standing in the aisle outside people's cubes, you're being disruptive.. get back to work :)
