Do Social Networking Sites (MySpace, Facebook) Ruin Real Relationships?

Hi people,

The reason i ask this question is simple, i was going out with a girl for about 2 years. I joined Facebbok and i started to add friends on my profile. Girls used to message me and write comments to me, flirty type comments.

Although i didnt really care about the comments my ex did, and we ended up breaking up.

Im just wondering, do you think these sites are healthy?

Do Social Networking Sites (MySpace, Facebook) Ruin Real Relationships?
wow, thats crazy... i think it all depends on where your relationship is. I mean, i cant see myself breaking up with someone just because of some comments on MYSPACE. Now if you are sending those flirty messages back, well that maybe a problem. Generally, though, I mean people sometimes take things and run with it. On either side. A man (or woman) could get a MYSPACE account and be cheating like the one guy said or it could be used as a way to make friends and left at that. People have to know their boundries. If you dont, then thats where the problems come in. If I had a bf, then some of the comments I WRITE wouldnt be considered descent for a woman who is in a relationship. But you cant help who writes you what. Its only natural for a person to become jealous, but to break up, I dont know.

Maybe if she asked you not to, and you did anyway, maybe then.
Reply:Wow! I can't even begin to tell you how many people I know (including myself) that have been in an identical situation as yours. In my opinion, yes and no. It depends on your girlfriend. Some girls are more understanding and less "jealous-types" than others and the same guys for guys. However, I think your girlfriend should maybe do a little re-evaluating of this situation and you should tak to her about it. I agree that it is nothing serious. People I haven't even seen in person in 3 years will leave flirty comments on my wall.
Reply:i think they are stupid and really shouldnt be taken seriously but obviously they do ruin some relationships (if thats all it took to ruin the relationship i guess it wasnt such a trustworthy relationship in the first place)
Reply:I found out on myspace that my wife was cheating on me, I am currently waiting on my divorce to finalize...cheating is the one thing I will not tolerate.
Reply:I think the internet in general ruins real relationships.

My bf seen that the majority of my friends on bebo are men, it took a while to convince him these are all gay or old school friends (which they are)

I also found awful things on the internet on match.com and that awful AWFUL AWWWWWWFUL site adultfriendfinder in regards to my bf's past and other people I knew.

It is an awful thing when it comes to relationships, so much so, I have banned the computer being fixed in our house.
