What are the characteristics of social networking sites?
Technical:
They allow users from anywhere to share their thoughts, pictures, videos and stories with each other. It also allows you to make new friend from long distances that have similar interests.
Socially:
Similar as to above. You can find people that have simliar interests in music, art, food, movies, etc. and talk or share with them. Also it can be beneficial in getting in touch with people you haven't seen or spoken with in years.
I've gotten in touch with friends from when I was in the army and haven't seen in 5 years that I thought I would never talk to again. Hope this helps!
