How has the social networking revolution...?

...affected people's lives?

Is it causing people to withdraw (even if partially) from old-fashioned ways of making friends in the external world, and compromising the quality of the relationships they do make outside of the Web?

Also, is spending too much time focusing on quantity, thereby increasing their virtual circle of influence by adding digital "friends" causing social decay in society?

There's a life outside of the Internet and it's beautiful.

Serious answers please.
