You can find step by step guide on how to start up a social networking site at website like http://www.aplis.net/ .
Reply:You need a web hosting service which supports online payments like, Master Card, Visa %26amp; Pay Pal. It is very important that your service to be uptime. Reply:First, learn to code, or hire someone who does (and don't get cheap on them or they'll pull out mid-project).
Reply:It's really not hard to develop a social network site but you have to find a niche. Focus on what myspace and facebook don't have or offer. Find a way you can steal users from there with addition features not found on these other sites. The one determining factor that'll make or break you is going to be marketing and advertising. You'll have to get your name out there. Use your accounts on myspace and facebook to post bulletins about your new site. Post topics on Digg.com and Reddit.com when you finish your site. You could probably find some help on elance also if you need some assistance with programming. Be specific on what you need and you'll get some cheap quotes. That should help get you started. If you're really serious about this too I wouldn't mind helping, I'm a website designer/programmer. I've got some free time recently.
